Mona York has been silently supporting Theo Jones for 12 years. However, she discovers that their marriage certificate is fake and that his former lover, Xenia Floyd—who was supposedly comatose—is actually awake and pregnant with his child. Feeling betrayed, Mona plans to leave and marry someone else, only to find that she herself is pregnant. Because of Theo, she is dragged into a dire situation and miscarries. When she disappears, Theo realizes too late what he has lost.
